Ritual of Sound

Throughout the project titled Ritual of Sound, the primary aim was to capture the unfiltered emotions and sensations experienced from live music events or recorded music. The electric bursts, which resemble the human form, symbolise the surge of serotonin experienced as a natural response to music.

Raw Footage

I chose to use dance as a tool to connect my audience to the emotion of dance. Not only does dance have an obvious connection to music, but it can also express the emotions evoked by orchestrated sound. Dance transcends spoken language and allows for a pure and universal connection to emotions. It serves as a form of escapism, providing joy and complete immersion in rhythm and movement.

Installation Poster Design

This poster visualises the core idea behind Ritual of Sound: the physical reaction to music. The form is abstract, but rooted in human movement, echoing the bursts of energy felt during live sound. It acts as a snapshot of emotion, using shape, rhythm and motion to communicate the sensations that words often can't.
